  • Overview

    Manage claims department including direct reports.  Responsible for qualifying, processing, and settling all customer freight claims.  Prepare various reports including those related to clients, carriers, third-party providers, and corporate financial activity.  Work with upper management to limit PLS exposure both financially and loss of existing cliental.


    • Oversee day-to-day operations of Claims Department and work with superior to assign and manage Claims Analysts’ workloads
    • Oversee, track, and resolve customer freight claims through communication with customers, carriers & insurance companies
    • Direct handling of high value/critical customer freight claims
    • Work with customers, carriers and insurance companies to obtain documentation needed to file, amend or resolve a pending or outstanding claim
    • Ensure all claim related activity is accurate and well documented through 3rd party claims software
    • Prepare and issue weekly/monthly outstanding claims report for customers and or internal stake holders as requested
    • Attend customer claims meetings as requested
    • Perform assigned duties in a professional and service-oriented manner with customers, carriers, and fellow employees
    • Review all outstanding/pending claims with the claims team to ensure ongoing resolution
    • Contact carriers and insurance companies for claims status and negotiate settlements
    • Communicate status back to customer as needed
    • Reviews and analyzes claim loss and expense reserves established by insurance carriers
    • Processes new claims and disseminates the claims to the appropriate insurance carrier
    • Identify exposures to the company and facilitate senior level management knowledge of pending claims and litigation that may have an adverse impact on the corporate goals
    • Other duties as required by business needs or as assigned


    Minimum Requirements

    • PC proficient (Microsoft Office preferred), solid Microsoft Excel skills, claims and/or related experience
    • Excellent communication and conflict management/resolution skills
    • Travel - limited


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Two-five years of transportation experience
